Ride your horse in the direction its going.

As a resident of Colorado, I have always been partial to the 'cowboy' way of life. I prefer jeans to suits, boots over shoes and cowboy hats over baseball hats. I prefer beer joints with a pool table over night clubs and martinis. I would rather spend a few quiet hours on a horse than all day at a noisy sports stadium. City folk might have a hard time understanding this, but then, I don't get hard rock either, so we're even.

Since the days of the old west the 'cowboy way of life' has always been a little different. We look at things from a slightly different angle too. Here is a list of 'western sayings' that I will share with you. They may not be original, but they are, none the less accurate - and you would do well to take a few moments to 'ponder' them.

1. Always ride your horse in the direction it's going.

2. Don't squat with your spurs on.

3. Never smack a man who's chewin' tobacco.

4. Careful is a naked cowboy climbing a barbwire fence.

5. Timing has a lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance.

6. Never wrestle with a pig, You both get all dirty, and
the pig likes it.

7. There's two theories to arguing with a woman. Neither
one works.

8. Always drink upstream from the herd.

9. If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is
stop digging.

10. Never, ever, miss a good opportunity to shut up.

11. If you're riding ahead of the herd, take a look back
every now and then to make sure it's still back there.

12. Don't worry about biting off more than you can chew.
Your mouth is probably a lot bigger than you think.

13. It don't take a genius to spot a goat in a flock of
sheep.

14. Never ask a barber if he thinks you need a haircut.

15. Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that
comes from bad judgment.

16. Genius has its limits. Stupidity knows no bounds.

17. Letting the cat out of the bag is a whole lot easier
than putting it back.

18. Don't interfere with something that not bothering you.

19. The easiest way to eat crow is while it's still warm.
The colder it gets, the harder it is to swaller.

20. Never trust a man who always agrees with you. He's
probably wrong a lot.

21. An old timer's a man who's had a lot of interesting
experiences -- some of 'em true.

22. Generally, you ain't learning nothing when your mouth's
a-jawin'.

23. A smile from a good cowgirl is worth more than a dozen
handed out by a bartender.

24. If you think you're too small to make a difference, try
sleeping in a room with an active mosquito.

25. Never approach a bull from the front, a horse from the
rear or a fool from any direction.

Don't you feel a little better now that you have 'chewed over' these bits of western wisdom? There is even a thing or two in there that you city slickers can take to heart.

Happy Trails!

I've heard some of these sayings, but you've listed plenty I haven't heard before. I enjoyed them.
